The symbolism and imagery of the tarot are powerful because they carry meaning.
Meditation is a good tool to use to find deeper meaning in the cards that have come up in your reading. One of the methods I use to access this is the practice of relaxed awareness. ONe can use breath work, visualisation of peaceful and calming places like lakes and forests. Affirmations like relax, peace, calm can instil a calmer state of mind.
When you are relaxed just bring the mind’s eye the image of the card. Then just breath with that card and say in your mind ‘Reveal Thyself’ or ‘What message do you have for me today?’ Allow the insights and meanings to flow as thoughts into your mind. Or images, memories, objects may come to your mind’s eye. You may hear a voice of truth or wisdom speak to you. You may notice sounds, smells, feelings or messages in any form you may sense.
Sometimes you might like to have a conversation with the character in the card by the lake or in the clearing of the forest in the meditation. These are quite common. Allow them to speak to you and aske questions if you like. It may feel strange or resistant at first but the conversations can happen and open up new ways of seeing your life and the answers you would like to find about issues, conflicts or challenges.
Allow this process to unfold. Sometimes nothing may come in the meditation itself but just wait for insights or thoughts to flow in the minutes, hours or days that follow the meditation. Be patient. Allow the meaning to reveal itself through any coincidences, conversations, meetings with people that follow the meditation.
Revisit the meditation and the card again.
Sometimes where 2 or 3 cards come together in the reading we may visualise those three characters and just watch them play or talk with one another. Observe them. They may be talking to you or they may be having a debate, argument, conflict or just be joking around. Allow the process to unfold. Watch the way they sit, stand or move – this gives you ideas about their characteristics that may be reflecting something back about you and your own behaviours and actions. Just observe with detachment but an attitude of curiosity and love.
Send your love to the characters of the cards – they all represent aspects of your self. Be compassionate, understanding, kind and curious.
After these meditations journal what happened and what was revealed.
